NPCC  Dedicated to the continued reliability of the bulk power system in Northeastern North America

Program Areas

NPCC activities are organized into Program Areas. The Regional Entity Division includes Program Areas for Standards, Reliability Assessment and Performance Analysis (RAPA), Compliance, and Situational Awareness and Infrastructure Security (SAIS). The Criteria Services Division focuses on NPCC Regional Criteria.

Standards & Criteria

Standards & Criteria

NPCC creates Regional Standards to enhance the reliability of the international, interconnected bulk power system in Northeastern North America. NPCC also creates Regionally specific reliability criteria that are necessary to implement, to augment, or to comply with NERC Reliability Standards, but which are not Reliability Standards.

Compliance

Compliance

The mission of NPCC is to comprehensively monitor and enforce compliance with NERC and NPCC Regional Reliability Standards among all users, owners, and operators of the Bulk Electric System in the NPCC Region.

RAPA

Reliability Assessment & Performance Analysis (RAPA)

NPCC, through its top technical committee, the Reliability Coordinating Committee, integrates the deliverables of its Task Force’s and Working Group’s Reliability Assessment and Performance Analysis (RAPA) activities.

SAIS

Situation Awareness & Infrastructure Security (SAIS)

The Situation Awareness and Infrastructure Security Program is the combination of near real-time awareness of conditions on the bulk power system with the programs necessary to increase the physical and cyber security of the electricity infrastructure.

Committees & Groups

NPCC, through its Bylaws, fulfills its reliability mission through committees, subcommittees, task forces and other groups as the Board of Directors may deem appropriate, including a Regional Standards Committee (RSC), a Compliance Committee (CC), a Reliability Coordinating Committee (NPCC’s principal technical committee), a Public Information Committee.

Regional Standards Committee

Regional Standards Committee

The NPCC Regional Standards Committee (RSC) is charged with management and maintenance of the NPCC Regional Standard Processes Manual under a sector based voting structure as described in the NPCC Bylaws.

DER Forum

DER Forum

Distributed Energy Resources (DER) is electrical generation and energy storage performed by a variety of small distribution system connected devices.

Reliability Coordinating Committee

Reliability Coordinating Committee

The purpose of the Reliability Coordinating Committee (RCC) is to promote the effective and efficient reduction of risks to the reliability, resilience, and security of the international Bulk Power System in Northeastern North America.

Government / Regulatory Affairs Advisory Group

Government / Regulatory Affairs Advisory Group
