August 14th marks the 20th anniversary of the 2003 Northeast blackout which impacted 50 million North Americans across Michigan, Ohio, Ontario, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. To highlight the progress that the ERO Enterprise has made toward a more reliable and resilient grid, NPCC collaborated with NERC and ReliabilityFirst to develop a video, “The Grid – 20 Years of Progress Since the 2003 Northeast Blackout”. The full announcement and the video, both of which include thoughts from NPCC President and CEO Charles Dickerson, are located on the NERC website at NERC Newsroom: Video Highlights ERO Enterprise Reliability Progress Since August 2003 Blackout.
