Reliability Forum

Significant changes in the resource mix, including increased integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and Variable Energy Resources (VER), increased system load due to electrification, and the retirement of fossil fired dispatchable generation, are rapidly changing the reliability landscape. NPCC’s activities support the identification of reliability impacts due to increasing levels of Inverter Based Resources (IBR), promoting awareness and providing a forum to share information. NPCC also works closely with the ERO Enterprise in order to share experiences, information and opportunities related to reliably integrating increasing levels of DER and VER. NPCC conducts Reliability Forums throughout the year which are open to the public. NPCC’s Regional DER/VER Guidance document provides guidance and information for voluntary use by NPCC Members and Stakeholders.
